The maximum size is the size of the filesystem you are running cvs on.
When it's full, just upgrade your hard disk.

A cvs repository on a FAT filesystem has a 2GB limit per file on the
RCS files (due to OS limits)... It's actually pretty hard to get that
big with text/source files but if you're storing large binaries it's
best to be on an NTFS drive just to be certain.
