I've now installed cvsnt b57g on both machines and I can get ls to work reliably even if I have a locks directory separate from the cvs repository (which was the problem I had). I've just had to make sure I'm using the same version of cvs on client and server. BUT I still have to disable impersonation to get anything to work - this is a major issue for me.
