Awk is a standard UN*X tool; it is a programming language
for doing string-based operations in files. If you are on
a UN*X like system it will almost certainly be there; if you
are on a non-UN*X system, then you will have it if you have
installed a UN*X toolset, such as the MKS toolkit:

These products give you UN*X tools on PC's.
