A bit more concerning these kinds of problems: Pipe 6 error occurs in the following situation for me too: - CVSNT 1.10.8 on a W2000 WS in a domain far away - WinCvs 1.2 client on a W2000 WS in a workgroup "near you" - Using ntserver protocol everywhere - Establish a VPN connection to the far away domain - Now use any CVS command in WinCvs like update - Pipe error! - Now map a drive letter on local machine to CVS server share - Then use WinCvs to your delight! Works perfectly OK! Other similar issue - SQL7 server on a W2000 WS on a domain - Client software on a W2000 WS in a different domain - Both domains on same network - Try using any SQL7 tool on client side (Query analyzer for example) - Observe the same pipe error as above... - Now again map a drive letter to the SQL7 server machine - Use the SQL7 tool and observe that all works OK. This problem with named pipes seems to come from authentication problems between different domains and workgroups and is a major pain for me, (but not in connection with CVSNT). Is there a general solution apart from using file shares? /Bo -----Original Message----- From: Mark Robinson [mailto:blobbybirdman at hotmail.com] Sent: den 13 februari 2002 16:03 To: cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook Subject: Re: [Cvsnt] ntserver Well I have made all the suggested changes but I am still suffering from a pipe 6 error. I understand that this means the user can't authenticate but I don't understand why this is the case. The user account in question has an identical account on the server, is listed in the passwd file (although systemAuth is set to yes). Are there any other suggestions as to the next likely cause of my problem. I am sorry to be such a pitiful pain in the neck but this (as always ;) is becoming an urgent problem for me.
