OK, I clicked send a bit too early of course - found the file just seconds afterwards.... The version info is compiled in the file cvsnt.rc2. So I could go there and remove the extraneous text from the file version info and recompile. (I created a new defined var CVSNT_FILEVERSION_STRING to hold this info.) But the strange thing is that even though now the FileVersion is set to 1.11.1.3 it does not show up as a program version when you look at the properties of cvs.exe. I even compared the rc files for cvs and a program I develop in Delphi to see if there are any differences, but the only thing I can spot is that 3 chars after the FileVersion string there is a comma (,) which is not in the rc file for my own program. Needless to say, my file version shows up in the properties page of the executable where cvs.exe shows 0.0.0.0. Strange.... /Bo On Sat, 30 Mar 2002 08:10:53 +0000 (UTC), bo.berglund at telia.com (Bo Berglund) wrote: >Tony, >the way the version information is stored within cvs.exe is >non-standard, which makes it impossible for an install utility to >check a previous version and selectively update only if the new >version is higher than the old one. >If one right clicks the cvs.exe file and looks at the >properties/version tab this is what is seen: >File Version: 0.0.0.0 >But in the "Other version information" box one can see this: >File Version: "Cvs NT 1.11.1.3 (Build 57a)" > >The correct way to store information as File Version is a dot >separated series of numbers only.
