Hi Jørgen, Thanks for your comment. I am very confused that CVS can do any file operation it likes except creating modules. I thought it *had* to be a directory permissions problem but I have confirmed that the CVS user has full access to the directory. Is there a way of running the server in debug mode so that I can get more detail about what is failing? The message you get indicates (probably) that cvs gets an error from the operating system. Cvs tries to pass this kind of errors on to you but it doesn't always work in my experience.
