Does CVS use the same port for communication on the client and server? Meaning does the server send and receive through the same port and does the client do the same as well? Or do they use two different ports for send and receive? ----Original Message Follows---- From: Bo Berglund <Bo.Berglund at system3r.se> To: 'Rajan Karunakaran' <rkaran at hotmail.com>, cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook Subject: RE: [Cvsnt] Setting up CVSNT for SSH access Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 15:48:41 +0200 MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: from [213.208.99.114] by hotmail.com (3.2) with ESMTP id MHotMailBEC0CAFD000F4136E812D5D0637205460; Fri, 31 May 2002 06:52:20 -0700 Received: from localhost([127.0.0.1] helo=sisko.nothing-on.tv ident=list)by sisko.nothing-on.tv with esmtp (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian))id 17Dmnv-0007BQ-00; Fri, 31 May 2002 14:50:55 +0100 Received: from mail by sisko.nothing-on.tv with spam-scanned (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian))id 17Dmlx-00079s-00for <cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook>; Fri, 31 May 2002 14:48:57 +0100 Received: from vscan by sisko.nothing-on.tv with scanned-ok (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian))id 17Dmlw-00079o-00for <cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook>; Fri, 31 May 2002 14:48:52 +0100 Received: from [212.247.168.60] (helo=3REXCHANGE01.system3r.com)by sisko.nothing-on.tv with esmtp (Exim 3.35 #1 (Debian))id 17Dmlm-00079e-00for <cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook>; Fri, 31 May 2002 14:48:42 +0100 Received: by 3rexchange01.system3r.com with Internet Mail Service (5.5.2653.19)id <L6PGCXWN>; Fri, 31 May 2002 15:48:41 +0200 >From cvsnt-admin at cvsnt.org Fri, 31 May 2002 06:53:31 -0700 Message-ID: <B974373707D4D311A33A0008C70D326B76DC8D at 3rexchange01.system3r.com> X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2653.19) X-Virus-Scanned: by AMaViS perl-11 X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 tests= version=2.20 X-Spam-Level: Sender: cvsnt-admin at cvsnt.org Errors-To: cvsnt-admin at cvsnt.org X-BeenThere: cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.9 Precedence: bulk List-Help: <mailto:cvsnt-request at cvsnt.org?subject=help> List-Post: <mailto:cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook> List-Subscribe: <http://www.cvsnt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/cvsnt https://www.march-hare.com/cvspro/en.asp#downcvs>,<mailto:cvsnt-request at cvsnt.org?subject=subscribe> List-Id: For users of CVS for NT <cvsnt.cvsnt.org> List-Unsubscribe: <http://www.cvsnt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/cvsnt https://www.march-hare.com/cvspro/en.asp#downcvs>,<mailto:cvsnt-request at cvsnt.org?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: <http://www.cvsnt.org/pipermail/cvsnt/> This is entirely a firewall issue for your IT department to solve. There are two options: 1) They open up some channel through the firewall where you can tunnel SSH 2) They open up port 2401 for communication through the firewall (pserver) Otherwise you are not able to connect and this has nothing to do with cvs itself. /Bo -----Original Message----- From: Rajan Karunakaran [mailto:rkaran at hotmail.com] Sent: den 31 maj 2002 00:28 To: cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook Subject: [Cvsnt] Setting up CVSNT for SSH access I am behind a firewall at work and would like to know if there is some way to access a CVSNT repository (on an NT box) outside company network on the Internet. Does anyone know of anyway of connecting to the server under such circumstances. I am able to connect to the said server from home, but have had not much luck doing it from work. The connection times out. I use TortoiseCVS as the client and this is the error message I get: ======================================================================================================================================================================================In C:\rk: cvs -q -z6 checkout rk/JavaPractice cvs [checkout aborted]: connect to 65.105.120.88:2401 failed: Connection timed out Error, CVS operation failed =====================================================================================================================================================================================The CVS server and the machine it resides on is accessible to me and I can administer the box using VNC. Alternatively is that anyway that I can set up the server for SSH connections. I can then portforward to it.
