Sorry about that.
I just looked at my setup script and it actually checks for
CVSNT 2.0.5 or higher. Don't know why, but I suspect that I had some
info at the time concerning a quirk for ViewCvs that was fixed in 2.0.5.
Or else it is just because that was the version I had when I did the
setup.
But anyway you should keep up with the revisions from Tony...

/Bo

Bo, thanks again.
I tried to install the ViewCVS but it failed on the check for CVSNT,
even though I have version 2.0.0.0 installed. I'll go ahead with the
upgrade, now. I hope it goes well. I'll let you know how I get on.
Again many thanks, very much appreciated,
Regards
Joe

Upgrading from your old version is very simple:
1) Download the latest released setup (2.0.8)
2) Execute it. It will find your old installation and just upgrade the
server files.

Concerning the repository, nothing is done there. The installer does not
care about your data at all, but the existing settings will be inherited
so the server will work transparently afterwards just as it did before.

BTW, I don't think that you need to do this just to get ViewCvs working.
The installer accepts any CVSNT in the 2.0.x range.

Bo

Hi, thanks for your help and advise. I have one minor discrepancy with
the spec required to install ViewCVS, I only have version 2.0.0.0 of
CVSNT installed. Now, I have viewed
http://w1.858.telia.com/~u85831169/InstallCVSNT.html

But I must firstly ask the question, that of my great fear, how will I
fair when I try to upgrade my existing CVSNT version to the new one.
What are the dangers or corrupting the repository, if any? Is there a
document out there to outline this upgrade procedure?

Thanks again, Regards
Joe

I have prepared a Windows setup for ViewCvs that will possibly be a
better choice for you.
You can find it at:
http://w1.858.telia.com/~u85831169/ViewCvsSetup.html

It is intended for this platform:
Win 2000 or higher
IIS 5 or higher
CVSNT 2.0.1 or higher
Python 2.1 or 2.2

Given the above items are installed it sets up your system all the way
into a working server.

Hope this helps,
Bo

Hi

I am having some, in fact a lot of problems trying to get CVSWEB working
on NT and IIS. I seem to have followed the steps outlined at
http://www.devguy.com/fp/cfgmgmt/cvs/cvswebIIS.htm very closely. However
I am getting nowhere. It prints the logo, error header and footer but
that all. Its failing on..

 fatal("404 Not Found",
'%s: no such file or directory',
       $where);

Giving the error...
Error: cgi-bin/cvsweb/cvsweb.cgi: no such file or directory

even though the file does exist as its actually executing it in order to
get this far... i.e.

c:/inetpub/wwwroot/cgi-bin/cvsweb/cvsweb.cgi

do you have any suggestions. I have checked and double checked
everything but cant seem to get any where.

Your help on this matter would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Joe
