Bo, See my response to "Ian Epperson" on why I mistakenly used :ntserver: when trying to setup :pserver: authentitication. I noticed that you point out to first issue a "cvs login" before the cvs passwd command. This was not clear in the documentation either. Here are the steps I am now taking C:\>set CVSROOT=:pserver:aaron at cvs_server:/Test C:\>cvs login Logging in to :pserver:aaron at cvs_server:2401:/Test CVS password: ****** cvs [login aborted]: authorization failed: server cvs_server rejected access to /Test for user aaron I tried the above as Administrator too and got the same authorization failure. Other notes: I am logged on to the cvs_server as Administrator I have ServerAuth=No in the config file located in c:/_cvsrepo/Test/CVSROOT I created a passwd file at c:/_cvsrepo and added users Administrator and aaron. I believe this is wrong so I moved the passwd file to c:/_cvsrepo/Test/CVSROOT admin file contents (listed on separate lines) ------ Adminstrator aaron passwd file contents (listed on separate lines) -------- aaron Administrator Thank you very much, Aaron --- Bo Berglund <Bo.Berglund at system3r.se> wrote: > Aaron, > in my reply to your post I forgot two vital items: > 1) One must use "Reply All" to get anything to the > list > 2) I forgot to tell you how to use sspi over a > firewall > > So here goes an expanded repeat of my reply: > > You are not using pserver, you are using ntserver. > To switch to pserver you need to do on the command > prompt: > set CVSROOT=:pserver:aaron at cvs_server:/Test > cvs login > (enter password) > > Now you should be in business provided your user > aaron is in > the passwd file on the server. > > To use ntserver across a firewall will never work, > you will get the > named pipe error just as you do here. > > But if you want to use sspi over the firewall it is > perfectly possible. > What you need to do is this: > > set CVSROOT=:sspi:aaron at cvs_server:/Test > cvs login > (enter password) > > Note the similarity of the passwd command!
