Hmm. I can see your point. If anything is done, Tony, please make it configurable. At my organization, I don't want anyone to be able to do cvs edit in offline mode. The server needs to know about all edits because the list of who is editing files is a key part of the tools that we use to keep communication flowing. For example, we have a little wrapper that presents the "cvs editors" information in a nice UI. We also take advantage of the fact that cvs.exe will warn you when you edit a file if someone else is already editing it (you can then go talk to them and make sure you guys are playing nice). If people could do offline edits, then the server could potentially have an inaccurate list of who is editing what files. That would not be good for us. -----Original Message----- From: pushok [mailto:contact at pushok.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2003 1:39 PM To: cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook Subject: [cvsnt] Edit in offline mode Hello, could somebody explain why the cvs.exe from cvsnt project cannot perform cvs edit or unedit command in offline mode? The basic unix implementation can make this without problem, it reports that it is not possible connect to the server, but it makes file writeable and moved it into cvs/base folder. So the unedit comand also can be applied in offline. Why this behavior changed? Is there any ways to have the same behavior on CVSNT? For me, working in offline is very important feature of cvs, and current behavior of CVS.exe from CVS NT, make this impossible.
