Actually cvsnt NEEDS the path-setting. When I try to create a repository when the path is not yet set (using the cvsnt-GUI) I get the message "Repository initialisation failed. To see errors, type the following at the command line: cvs -d d:/CVS/cvsrepo/Test init" When I do this (type this at the command line from cvsnt's folder) it seems to work. It also works when the path environment variable is set properly. A small additional info: I just checked and : writing the path to the registry (both positions) does NOT update the system path, even if I broadcast WM_WININICHANGE. Regards, Ralf
