Always copy the list on a reply, in case someone else has an answer and so the information can benefit others, or if someone else has an answer. Which I hope is the case here, because I'm mostly out of useful information on this one ;) > When I telnet to it, I can't tell if it ever says cvs [server > aborted].... because something flashes by really quickly and then it > says connection to host lost. If you start telnet from a command line, you'll be able to see the text it produces before exiting. It sounds like you're connecting to CVS though. > Do you have any other suggestions? CVSNT allows you to connect with whichever protocols are loaded on the server, and the client chooses a particular one with the start of the cvsroot, :pserver: in this case. However, the error message is usually different if it's a problem with _which_ protocol is available. Are there errors in the eventlog? IIRC, I saw a thread recently with XP Home saying something to the effect that it was trying to log in as "guest" each time regardless of who logged in. You might try searching through the recent archives here for XP Home and see what that finds. Glen Starrett
