Hi all,

this makes no difference, since 'sspi' and 'ntserver' does not require
explicit specification of login name. It operates with login of current
Windows user, in contrast to for example 'pserver' (as i understand).

Thank you for response anyway :-) Anybody else having idea for solution to
my trouble? I hardly can believe that this problem is so sporadic... though
haven't succeed to find helpful clues on web so far, strange.

Regards,
Tomas Vala

Hi Tomas,

With the SSPI authentication, you need a Username for the server to
understand who it is authenticating.

My CVSROOT looks like:

 :sspi:james at cvsserver:/Development

and this works well.

James

Hello,

i got some difficulties running cvsnt server on Win2000/XP. I've installed
2.0.11 (later 2.1.1) on my system according to InstallationTips, but for
some reason the connection from client is not as painless as i've expected.
I've only succeeded to establish communication via 'ntserver' and 'local'
protocols so far - too bad, 'cause i have to use 'pserver' or 'sspi'.
Project repository was created correctly and i don't have any firewall nor
antivirus SW active. I would appreciate some hint. Thank you.

unsuccessful attemp via pserver
----------------------------------------------
set cvsroot=:pserver:UserName at myserver:/TEST
cvs login
...
cvs [login aborted]: Error reading from server myserver: -1: No such file or
directory

unsuccessful attemp via sspi
------------------------------------------
set cvsroot=:sspi:myserver:/TEST
cvs login
...
cvs [login aborted]: Can't authenticate - server and client cannot agree on
an authentication scheme

environment
-----------------
Server: cvsnt 2.0.1.1 / 2.1.1 @ Windows2000 Server / Windows XP SP1
Client : cvs 1.11.1.3 console / WinCVS 1.3 @ Windows XP SP1
Situation: 1) both server and client on the same machine (Windows XP SP1),
2) server on Windows 2000, client on Windows XP

Regards,
Tomas Vala
