[cvsnt] problem: "Cannot check out files into the repository itself" (was: problem with checkout / permissions?)

A bit more information (maybe someone has an idea): it broke between 2.0.34
and 2.0.35, and if I run 2.0.41a with the -ttt option, in the last line
before the line with [server aborted] it talks about checking out a
modules2 file (which I don't have).

I ran this with "cvsserver -test", and the temporary directory it shows is
fine (outside the repository).
