There is another thing that might be handy here... winbind has an app so that samba 3 can do NTLM authentication... it's not SSPI (it uses base64 encoded NTLMSSP) but last time I looked at it it was just about possible to translate between the two, so you could have server side SSPI on Linux. The bad news is I don't have a Windows domain controller to authenticate to (at least at home.. no problem at work). I wonder if I could get it to loopback to the samba server on the same machine...
