Thus the HEAD:date thing makes sense to me. -D date -j HEAD might do something but it's more likely to use the default (checked out) branch, rather than HEAD (well *some* commands use the checked out branch for dates..., others don't. Wonderfully consistent!) The whole tag thing needs sorting out... log uses a different system again, checkout is slightly different as well. A centralised/consistent tag syntax is definately something worth doing... won't be for a little while though I think. Tony
