Thanks for the quick response. So I have no choice but to release all of the subfolders, individually.... Once subfolders released, can I just delete the root folder? I see that the CVS folder is left there even though all subfolders released, so is it ok to just delete root folder? The reason is that all cvs commands look for directions on the CVS server in the CVS subfolder in the current dir and if you want to release the top folder then you are probably located in the folder above, which is not a sandbox (with a CVS subfolder). Might be wrong, but this is what i believe to be the case. /Bo -----Original Message----- From: cvsnt-bounces at cvsnt.org [mailto:cvsnt-bounces at cvsnt.org]On Behalf Of Arca Artem Sent: den 17 mars 2005 12:51 To: cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook Subject: [cvsnt] "Failed to obtain lock..." when releasing Hi, I get the following error message when I try to release my project folder: cvs.exe [release aborted]: Failed to obtain lock on /.directory_history,v: FAIL Lock not within repository My CVSROOT is ":local:/Dev/CVSRoot" and this is the command line that's used when trying to release: "K:\Dev\TortoiseCVS\cvs.exe" "-q" "-Q" "release" "-d" "-f" "DEV_SMARTPOS" "DEV_SMARTPOS" foder is in K:\ and has several sub-folders. It is OK when I try to release any of the subfolders but NOT OK when releasing the project root. The project root *is* a module inside the repository. I need to release everything in one go, please advise on a possible resolution/workaround Kind Regards, Archie _______________________________________________ cvsnt mailing list cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook http://www.cvsnt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/cvsnt https://www.march-hare.com/cvspro/en.asp#downcvs
