To summarize and round up the thread: The original thread came out because of issues due to outsourcing to a software company that had set itself up with only dialup access, which meant that it was hard to get adequate access to their current source tree. My assertion is that mirroring is only papering over the cracks in this situation, and wouldn't be practical as you'd have to tie up a dialup line (and the server) for hours at a time, only to get a mirror that's out of date before you even use it. The best you can do is to do regular cvs update commands (a couple of times a day maybe) - that'll be the most up to date you can get.. it'll be slow but workable. Of course the real answer is for the company in question to get a proper connection - note that this is unrelated to the availability of ADSL in a forest in outer mongolia - a company should locate itself where the resources it needs to survive exist.
