Looks like howl isn't compatible.

You can switch it off in the control panel...  it's increasingly looking 
like I'll have to write an mdns server too :( (Apple has a restrictive 
license & I couldn't distribute it, howl is buggy, and there are no 
other Win32 compatible ones...)
