The odd thing is that I have had this problem for so long I never thought about it. Also, I can only reproduce it on our Windows 2003 server. All other machine don't require this. There's a couple of known bugs with the Windows 2000 MSI version, but apparently these are fixed in SP4... can't find anything similar for XP documented.
