You can't use NTFS system permissions for this since the cvs process involves
creating, renaming and deleting intermediate files. So for any operation like
commit there will be files both created and deleted...

Have a look at cvs chacl instead, it might solve the problem.

Or use the commitinfo script file to limit this access.

Subject: [cvsnt] Restricting users from creating new files/directories

Hi,

I am currently using CVSNT version 2.5.01.1976 on WIn2k server.. What I
would like to do is to let my users be able to commit and check out and
update files but not allow them to create new files or directories. Is this
possible?

I tried to set the permissions such that the user cannot create files using
Win2k security settings on the folders. However, I find that with this,
users cannot even commite files due to the lock files not being able to be
created and deleted in the directory of the files to be committed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ho.
