In which I vote to shut down mail posting and use *only* the
newsserver interface. Or at least disallow postings from
non-subscribed users.

At my office, I can't read newsgroups from a NNTP server (only with a
web interface)
If you stop mailling list, I will lost all of your support :'(
There is much other solutions: other mailling-lists have not this
spam problem...
