Celeste, >I wonder if someone would be kind enough to tell a Very computer challenged person what cvsnt is for and what just an ordinary >person would need or use it for? > > I can't seem to get answers to really basic questions like this. > That is a great question! The pimary goal this year for the project is to make the product more accessible and relavent to computer users who do not currently use CVS. CVS keeps track of changes to things. Specifically CVS tracks changes to computer files: such as word documents, excel spreadsheets and is often used by programmers to track changes to the "sources codes" of computer software. The CVS project is "open source" which means that the "source codes" to it are freely available for people to learn from and use, however that is not much use for a novice. So for people such as yourself we provide "CVS Suite" which includes an easy getting started guide called "All About CVS". You can read more about it here: http://march-hare.com/cvsnt/ We are in the process of releasing a new version, and one of the changes in that is to make it easier to "see" the differences to Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents (including changes to properties, text and macros).
