Who is David? You have sent this to the public CVSNT mail list and
therefore it makes no sense referring to a conversation with "David"
that most of us have no knowledge of....

AntiVirus software?
Is it happening on the client or server?
On the server run cvsdiag and look at its report.

Finally:
Please supply at least a minimum of information when asking on the
list!
- server and client operating systems
- server and client CVSNT versions including build numbers
- Connection string used (aka CVSROOT)
- actual command executed
- Exact error messages shown
- Output of cvsdiag

Most of the above can be done as copies of a command window cvs
session so that correct data are supplied.
