Bo suggested some of the server settings might be the problem. Well,
I tried changing the "Run as user" and "Default domain" settings to
various values, stopping and restarting the server each time, and
didn't get any success until I got back to the default values: "Run
as user" to "[client user]" and "Default domain" to "[default]", then
when I restarted the server and lock server again, it worked. I have
no idea why it wasn't working before, or why changing it away from
the defaults and back again and restarting the servers solved the problem.

Thanks particularly to Bo who was (as usual) very helpful in pointing
me in the right direction, even though it took a bit of
experimentation to get back to where I should have been when I started!

Thanks to all for their suggestions.
Tim
