CVSNT 2.5.04 build 2878 - release candidate 2 (internal) is now available to download from the cvsnt.org testing downloads page: http://www.cvsnt.org/wiki/Download I've decided to release this because we need help testing some specific things (see below), a more stable release candidate should be available soon. If you can help with this testing please download this build, if you are not interested in testing these features please wait for release candidate 3. This is the next "feature release" and the changes in this release all relate to "new 2.5.04" features. There should be no bugs in 2.5.04 that did not also exist in 2.5.03. The plan is to stabilise the new features before porting bug fixes from 2.5.03 or fixing things that were equally as broken in 2.5.03.2382. Please test (these are almost all server changes): * installer now contacts march-hare.com to register statistics - no ip address is stored (client and server) * filenames with apostraphe, eg: "a'postrophe.txt" (server) * services correctly start on server reboot (server) * control panel now contacts optionally march-hare.com to send weekly statistics - probably broken (server) * control panel should work on vista (server) [note: client has worked on vista for years already] * sync protocol (multi site setups) (server) - proxy mode (local read cache, write through) - full mode (pass all traffic through) * oracle 8i/9i/10g support (server) - audit (especially multi lingual filenames and commit messages) - on windows and on linux - oracle 8i/9i servers - oracle 10g servers Note 1: the oracle audit driver in this release is different to what was in earlier releases. I have tested this on HPUX with Oracle 8i client and Oracle 8i and 9i servers - but not tested on windows at all or with Oracle 10g at all. Note 2: Long commit messages to the oracle audit will fail (Don't ask me how long is long) - I intend to fix that in the next build. Note 3: The oracle audit driver now uses nvarchar/nclob columns for any data that could be multi-lingual (filenames, commit messages etc) so if you have an oracle audit db created with a previous build of 2.5.04 then you will need to manually fix it or drop it. Please report test results to the newsgroup. Plans for future test builds: * next: oracle audit driver that works with long commit messages * later: commercial bug fixes from 2.5.03 Regards, Arthur Barrett
