The system does have the msvcrt.dll, actually, in more than in one place:

C:\Windows\System32
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-msvcrt_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_d15536209ee61dad
C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-msvcrt_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_2d73d1a457438ee3

There are also msvcrt20.dll and msvcrt40.dll into similar folders as the
ones cited above.
