Turns out any cvs command will take a long time to complete with the firewall enabled. The moment I turn my firewall off (both xp and vista), it completes all the commands almost instantaneously. I am trying this for XP Professional with SP2 and Vista with SP1. The backend server is RHEL Linux System.
