Hello, Are you using CVS intead of CVSNT? In CVSNT (as far as I know) there is no more Attic folder and removed files stay in the same folder, even when they are deleted. In CVSNT if you are absolutely sure you will never ever want to go back to a file (ie it was added by mistake, should never have been added and wastes a significant amount of space) you can just remove the ,v file from the repository. That's not really adviced and you'd probably want to make a backup of your entire repository in advance, but I have done it in the past and it has never cause me any issue. Just make sure you don't make this a habit, it's not for normal removes. If you're on the old CVS I'd assume you can just remove the files from the attic folder and all will be fine, but I'm not sure and I'd backup the repository before trying and seeing what happens. I'd also upgrade the server to CVSNT ;-) Kind Regards, JAN KEIRSE ICT-DEPARTMENT Software quality & Systems: Software Engineer cvsnt-bounces at cvsnt.org schreef op 23/04/2009 11:48:15: > HI Experts, > I have a project maintained in CVS, when i started working on it, i checked > in the binary files plus the source code to CVS.I want to remove the binary > files from the CVS.I am using cvs remove command for this purpose followed > by a cvs commit. It has removed the file from the future commits. But when i > check out the code corresponding to the old tags, these binary files are > still present. And when i checked on the CVS SERVER, i found out that a new > folder Attic was created on the CVS server where the deleted files were > moved. Please suggest something about this directory. > > With Warm Regards, > > Nitesh Bansal > > Software Engineer, India > _______________________________________________ > cvsnt mailing list > cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook > http://www.cvsnt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/cvsnt https://www.march-hare.com/cvspro/en.asp#downcvs > > Upgrade to CVS Suite for more features and support: http://march- > hare.com/cvsnt/ **** DISCLAIMER **** <A HREF="http://www.tvh.be/newen/pages/emaildisclaimer.html"> http://www.tvh.be/newen/pages/emaildisclaimer.html </A> "This message is delivered to all addressees subject to the conditions set forth in the attached disclaimer, which is an integral part of this message."
