Of course not ! It's a version control system. Removing a file at a certain point in history doesn't change the fact that before that time the file existed; therefore any request for files before that time needs to get the file. The only way to remove the file completely, as Jan indicated, is to delete the file from the repository. Which is only to be done if adding the file was a mistake and you absolutely definitely don't want any historical Update to get the file. Helpfully, Maybe, Richard. By the way - if you're asking questions about CVS why are you asking on the CVSNT list ? > -----Original Message----- > From: cvsnt-bounces at cvsnt.org > [mailto:cvsnt-bounces at cvsnt.org] On Behalf Of nitesh bansal > Sent: 23 April 2009 11:07 > To: Jan Keirse > Cc: cvsnt at cvsnt.org cvsnt downloads at march-hare.com @CVSNT on Twitter CVSNT on Facebook > Subject: Re: [cvsnt] Betr.: Removing a file from CVS > > Thanks for advice. But i dont have permissions for upgrading > CVS to CVSNT.But > isnt there any such command which will remove the files from > the repository > cleanly and safely?? > > On Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 3:32 PM, Jan Keirse <jan.keirse at tvh.be> wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > Are you using CVS intead of CVSNT?
