As far as I understood Tony's comments they will not go away as such.
They will merely be replaced with a different system that will make it
clearer that revision identifiers are not intended as identifiers of
product releases.
The latest I heard, it will probably change to something like:

BRANCHNAME.RevNo

So you'll have revision identifiers like:

MAIN.178           (Tony, please do not call the trunk HEAD)
RELEASE-X_FIXES.3


Possibly for trunk revisions the branch name will be optional.

Is that still an accurate description of the current plans, Tony?
